I started my artistic career in 1997 at the age of 13. I began by taking lessons once a week from a local published artist, Lee Hammond, in Kansas City. At a young age I started taking commissions from local friends and family, but now take commissions for artwork from clients all over the world. I often send the originals of my work to my clients as I prefer for them to enjoy the work. Otherwise all my artwork starts piling up in my apartment and that’s not a good thing.
I enjoy many forms of art from acrylic & oil painting, silversmithing, sculpture, watercolors, colored pencils, pottery, photography, web-design, and most everything I can get my hands on. I run a personal blog as well it’s called, Wrist Flick.
In August 2007 I moved to France and got married to the most wonderful man I’ve met. His name is Thomas Maillioux and we started talking in 2004 online. Yes we are one of those online couples that worked and work well still. After 3 years plus of marriage we are still going strong and very much in love. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined moving to a country where I could not speak the language. In high school French was never a language option but I was able to take one semester of beginners French at my college before I graduated. It helped some but then I had to still take 200+ mandatory French lessons from the government once I moved here. I’m still not perfect but everyone says I’m progressing every year. Language is a bit difficult because I work from home I don’t interact with many people throughout the day.
I am currently looking for a job in France. For all of you expats living in the Paris area if you know of any jobs that are interested in a native English speaker please let me know! I’m only just getting into the expat circle after all these years. I always imagined the expat circle to be just meeting in some cafe one a month and ranting. But it turns out its much more than that and I’m more than eager to make some new friends.
